His Wounds Have Paid My Ransom

Below is a video I found combining one of my favorite singers – Joy Williams – with a favorite hymn – How Deep the Father’s Love – and moving pictures of Christ paying our ransom.

I wanted to share it with you because while I can easily blog about the issues of being a thriving believer or a half-hearted believer, what it all comes down to is who is Jesus Christ to you? Jesus is the absolute center of real faith. All issues, shortcomings, and controversies aside, knowing Him is the absolute greatest part of life and the biggest motivator for experiencing the abundance we should when we love Him. When I stop to remember His goodness, His patience with me, His everlasting love and promises, everything else seems so less worthy of my attention.

If you have a few minutes, won’t you join me in reflecting on our amazing Savior, Lover, Lamb, Prince, and Friend?

Today I was in church and this song hit me like a ton of bricks. I have heard it many times before and have stood there many times before singing it, thinking I was worshipping. I always loved the beautiful melody but never realized how beautiful the words were. Today of all days I needed to hear these words and today I did…for the first time. The words flowed through me, tears flooded my eyes and fell down my face–God was speaking to me and I finally heard him. I have been struggling with my faith and becoming less dependant on Jesus. I was becoming boastful about my gifts, not giving Jesus any credit or glory…but it is he who gave me these wonderful gifts. It is he who paid my ransom so that I may be blessed with these gifts. So it is he who should get all the glory!

I heard this song performed at M-Fuge in Charleston, S.C. this week, for 600 teenagers who were there to serve God. What a moving experience…..Praise God for His love and mercy, given to us through Jesus Christ!

I need to watch this incredibly moving video, really, every day. It so reminds me of what God did for me, the terrible cost He paid for me and you. His mercy is so great. This song conveys so well what we need to know. Thank You.
