The Epiphany

Me

This site serves to allow me to be boistrous about my passion for spiritual leadership in Christian ministry. Since high school, and increasing in maturity in faith, I have been given a string of opportunities to lead other girls/women in small group bible study settings and one-on-one discipleship. My vision for each female peer that I come into contact with is the same no matter who it is: that they would gain the insight of eternal perspective. What is “eternal perspective?” A concise summarization I heard over and over again during my four years involved in Campus Crusade for Christ ministry at Virginia Tech, meaning the Holy Spirit-given ability to look at your life on the timeline of eternity. To live for That Day (2Cor. 5:10, 1 Cor. 3:13). It’s a perspective that causes a Christian to sense the URGENCY upon us of pouring into God’s kingdom. It’s a realization of how much time wasting I do - in the name of spiritual growth - and how much real eternal work is being neglected due to my misconception that it’s all about me and my journey towards spiritual maturity. The more we mature, the more we have to accept that Jesus was all about serving everyone else around him. Want to grow in your faith? Drop the “to do to make me a better Christian” list and go and make disciples. Just go. Matt. 28:19-20.

  1. Very passionate, I to have a deep passion to help women see what God sees when He looks at them. Called and destined for eternal greatness. It’s encouraging to come across one in you. You go Girl!

  2. After over 17 years as a Christ follower(well some as a believer, some as an actual follower!) I feel like I am just starting to get this. I have been so selfish in my faith. And I’m really excited about where I’m at right now, rather where God has brought me. That its ok to stop be so overprotective(in a healthy God-honoring boundary sort of way :) )

  3. Yup. Well said.

I need to read that like, every day. The world needs cheerleaders like you. Most of us don’t intentionally fall into this trap of “pride” (self absorption as defined by Purpose Driven Life), but it’s a great side road to the tasks at hand.

I need to hear this sermon like…every day.

  7. Hi, it’s nice to meet you, too. It looks like you are busy doing some really great things!

You’re right- I think it’s an important reminder to stop focusing so much of our energies inward and instead work on serving others. I’ll be interested to read more of your thoughts now that I’ve found your site. :)

  8. Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog.
I’ve just been reading yours and it’s great! :)
I sing in my church (solos, worship, chorale) and your voice tips were wonderful. I’m going to put some of those into practice. I’m worried about my son’s voice. He’s 22 and he strains to sing. Now he can’t go as high as he used to. He’s also just began preaching.
Love your blog. I’ll be back. God bless you, Tena.

  9. Hey there! I, too, am passionate about seeing people follow the Lord in true discipleship. It’s awesome to see how the Lord continues to allow you to live out that passion :)

Yes, Dawn is the one you know from Mexico. Such a small world!!! Thanks for visiting my blog; I need to update it more often but I sometimes find it hard to verbalize everything going through my brain…

Btw, you and your husband are precious! What a great picture!
